The IMSA TireRack.com Battle on the Bricks is coming to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway September 15 – 17 and the JDC-Miller Motorsports Porsche 963 GTP team has offered CIRPCA members an opportunity to get an exclusive, behind the scenes look at the No. 5 JDC-Miller Porsche 963, driven by veteran Mike Rockenfeller and up and comer Tijmen van der Helm.
Two sessions are planned: Friday, September 15 at 1:30 PM and Sunday, September 17 at 11:00 AM. Each session will be about half an hour and will include the chance to get a real close-up look at the 963 machine, hear an informative presentation by a team member, and participate in a Q&A with the team’s representative.
Friday’s session promises to be more informal and will appeal to the hardcore fan. Driver availability for these sessions is TBD, but looks hopeful for the Sunday session in particular. Each session is limited to 30 CIRPCA members and their guests. We ask that you sign up for one session only, and be sure to include the total number of attendees!
We will gather at the #5 JDC-Miller Motorsports garage about 10 minutes before the start of a session.
The exact location is not known at this time, but look for the yellow #5 Porsche and the JDC-Miller Motorsports banners!
JDC MotorSports was started in 1994 by Minnesotan John Church, primarily running Formula Ford customer cars. JDC later found great success running USF2000 and Star Mazda programs. JDC began competing in several IMSA support series in 2011, before moving up to the top level WeatherTech Sportscar Championship in 2017. Today, in addition to the Porsche 963 program, JDC and JDC-Miller MotorSports also compete in the IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge series, and in the LMP3 class in the WeatherTech Championship series. The team is based in Savage, Minnesota.
When IMSA announced plans for a new, hybrid formula for their top line series more than three years ago, JDC began talks with all of the potential manufacturers. After a great deal of scrutiny, Porsche liked what they saw in JDC and JDC like Porsche’s winning history and extensive experience supporting customer teams. JDC-Miller Motorsports was announced as the first customer Porsche 963 team (and first IMSA prototype customer team in the current sports car era) in July of 2022.
JDC-Miller owner John Church is also PCA member. He believes that the Porsche Club is a key component of running a professional Porsche racing team and embraces giving back to the fans of the brand and the team.
Join us on September 15 or 17 at IMS for what promises to be a truly unique and informative event!
